Fed Biz earns dominant win for Baffert

Fed Biz earned a dominant victory in a $58,000 allowance race on Thursday at Santa Anita as one of Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert's top Kentucky Derby hopefuls. Fed Biz won by 5 3-4 lengths while covering one mile in 1:34.74 under Rafael Bejarano. He paid $3.40, $2.20 and $2.20 as the 3-5 favorite.
Carbonite wins Santa Anita feature

Carbonite beat stablemate Pressday by a neck to win the $64,050 Fools Rush In Purse on Thursday at Santa Anita, giving trainer John Sadler a 1-2 finish. Ridden by Victor Espinoza, Carbonite ran 6 1-2 furlongs on the hillside turf course in 1:12.83 and paid $8, $4 and $2.40. Pressday returned $3.60 and $2.40 as the 3-2 favorite in his U.S.
One Last Dance wins by a nose at Aqueduct

One Last Dance rallied to beat Coco Ecolo by a nose Thursday in the $67,620 allowance feature for fillies and mares at Aqueduct. David Cohen rode for trainer Dale Romans as the 4-year-old got her third win in six starts. The time was 1:40.15 for the one mile. One Last Dance paid $6.30, $3 and $2.30. Coco Ecolo returned $5.50 and $4.40, while Indian Burn paid $4.20 to show.
Hansen, Union Rags head Triple Crown nominees

Hansen and Union Rags, who dueled to a close 1-2 finish in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, and undefeated Algorithms lead the list of 397 early nominees for the Triple Crown series for 3-year-olds. Hansen edged Union Rags by a head in the Juvenile and won the Eclipse Award as last year's top 2-year-old.
Animal Kingdom to return to racing in Florida

Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom is set to return to racing on Feb. 25 in the Tampa Bay Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs after being sidelined for nearly eight months with a hairline fracture to his left hock. Team Valor chief executive officer Barry Irwin says Animal Kingdom will use the 1 1-16-mile turf race as a prep for the $10 million Dubai World Cup in late March.
Rachel Alexandra back at farm

Algorithms wins Holy Bull at Gulfstream Park

Algorithms capped a big day for trainer Todd Pletcher's speedy 3-year-olds at Gulfstream Park, winning the $400,000 Holy Bull Stakes. Algorithms, ridden by Javier Castellano, passed 2-year-old champion Hansen in the stretch and pulled away to win by five lengths, running a mile on the sloppy dirt track in 1:36.17.

Mucho Macho Man won the $400,000 Florida Sunshine Millions Classic on Saturday at Gulfstream Park, beating Ron the Greek by 1 1/2 lengths. Ridden by Ramon Dominguez and trained by Kathy Ritvo, Mucho Macho Man ran 1 1/8 miles in 1:47.91 and paid $6.20, $3.80 and $3. HBO places its bets on horse racing drama 'Luck'

David Milch had the script for a horse racing drama kicking around in his head for 30 years. The screenwriter and producer was just too busy living it to put words to paper. As a 6-year-old, Milch first accompanied his father to the racetrack in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. He was too young to wager, but Milch's father worked things out anyway.
