Even Pacers forward Danny Granger had to admit he's a little surprised by the team's early-season success.

Granger knew the Pacers would be better this season, but he didn't expect them to take off until later in the season because they had to start out by playing 15 of 22 games away from Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The Pacers haven't let the road-heavy schedule be a detour for them. They're 10-5 on the road and they've got their best overall record—17-7—since the 2003-04 season.

"I don't think anybody thought we'd be like this," Granger said. "We knew we were going to be better than we were last year, but I think we really hit the ground running.

Danny Granger sat at his locker, worn out and tired. He was dragging all day after taking medicine to help him get some rest, but it may have been too much for the Indiana Pacers forward. Shut out of a hotel by the Super Bowl, the Orlando Magic had to fly in from Cincinnati on Saturday before the game. It didn't produce much in the way of attractive basketball, though the Magic could have done worse. Their ugly win could have been an ugly loss. Granger's big night helps Pacers down Magic 106-85

The Indiana Pacers have played 13 of their first 19 games away from home. It doesn't seem to be bothering them much. Danny Granger scored 24 points and Indiana beat the Orlando Magic 106-85 on Sunday night, earning its eighth road victory of the season to tie Chicago and Oklahoma City for most in the NBA.
