Islanders Team Report
(Thu, 09 Feb 2012 02:55:19 PST)

Travis Hamonic had appeared in 113 games in a row to start his NHL career, but that early iron-man streak abruptly ended after the second-year defenseman needed surgery to repair a broken nose after he was hit in the face by a deflected puck Saturday night against Buffalo.

The loss of a first-pair blueliner for at least two weeks figures to be a tough one for the Isles to overcome, especially with Milan Jurcina also nursing an elbow injury and fill-in Dylan Reese suffering an undisclosed knee injury Tuesday night in Philadelphia.

But you wouldn't have known the Isles were terribly depleted in the back Tuesday night because of Evgeni Nabokov's game-stealing 45-save performance in a 1-0 shootout win over the Flyers.

"Anytime you get goaltending like that, you're...
